From February 2011 onward we have been approved to deliver accredited training for those wishing to become Forest School Trainers.
Before entering on to the course candidates must have accomplished the following:-
-
Recognised Level 3 Forest School qualification
-
At least two years experience of running FS programmes designed for a minimum of two different age / client groups. Ideally the candidate would also have experience of delivering at least one longer FS programme eg. 12 weeks duration or more with one client group.
-
Experience of FS training (apart from your own training course that enabled you to become a FS practitioner). Please note – shadowing of a L3 training course can be arranged by Cambium once an expression of interest has been made by a potential candidate.
Once accepted on to the course the candidate must achieve the following (if not already accomplished) :-
-
Recognised qualification in teaching and assessing adults Eg. Education degree for Secondary sector, PGCE for secondary or FE, Certificate of Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (CTLLS)
-
Current suitable 1stAid qualification
-
Current practice of running FS programmes (including a long programme if not already accomplished)
Please note– three above bulleted points are achieved by the candidate in their own time and are outside of the remit of the L4 training.
This Forest School Trainer course contains elements of group work but is largely a bespoke programme aimed at equipping new trainers to deliver best practice FS training. Where possible, candidates are encouraged to team up with one or two other trainee trainers to deliver a Level 3 Forest School Practitioner course under the mentoring and guidance of Cambium.
Candidates will follow a programme of study that will last between 18 and 24 months and which covers all aspects of preparing for and delivering a L3 training course. Following successful completion of the L4 training course, candidates are obliged to work with Cambium in the delivery of their first training courses to ensure consistency in best practice training delivery.
There will be two Level 4 Forest School Trainer course intakes per year with a maximum of six candidates on any training course.
Cohort 1 – starting in December 2011
Cohort 2 – starting in June 2012
Please make expressions of interest as early as possible so that shadowing opportunities can be made available.
Application to the course – please contact Anney for further information or to have an informal chat about your training needs.
