Level 3 – Forest School Practitioner
This course is designed for those who would like to set up and run a forest School.
There are three Units of Study at Level 3:
Learning and Development at Forest School
Forest School Practical Skills and Woodland Management
Establishment and Delivery of a Forest School Programme
The course usually starts with five days of theoretical and practical skills building shortly followed by two days of practical which is all carried out in the outdoors. The student then carries out planning for and delivery of their Forest School sessions during one of which a member of the training team will carry out an observation assessment of the trainee in action. There is a one day course completion workshop about three quarters of the way through the course. In addition to the course dates, the lead tutor is available during the course for tutorial help by telephone or e mail.
Entry Qualification Required:
Level 2 Qualification in Education, Youth Work, Child care etc. AND established link with a client group and potential Forest School Site. 21 years or over at the start of the course.
OR Level 2 Qualification in Forest School, Countryside, Woodland Management etc. AND at least two years experience with client groups AND an established link with a client group and potential Forest School Site.
Course Duration – 8 days of training plus setting up Forest School site and running a minimum of six Forest School Sessions (course is completed within nine months of start date).
Course costs - £750 per person
Criminal Records Bureau checking and 1st Aid at Work or 1st Aid Outdoors (16 hour module) is required for this course.
The "First aid in the outdoors" course that we run is designed specificaly for trainee Forest School Practitioners and assistants. We are now organising these iin tandem with our training. See FIRST AID for First Aid Course Dates. (1st Aid course costs are NOT included in the training cost above.)
